go ahead and do something new

So we’re back in Adelaide and we’ve had some time to reflect on the Multiple Exposures exhibition and the huge array of work that was displayed. It’s an interesting process creating work for others to see or wear. It takes time and energy and belief and more than a little stubbornness to take an idea from being something that you might like to do one day to actually to work at it and bring it to fruition. Its a slightly scary reality to then put it in to the public domain and expose your work to the scrutiny and the opinions of others, but its the best way to grow and get better and do more. The great payoff comes when you can stand back and look at your work and say ‘that’s good, that works’ and feel that glow of achievement. The trick is to use that energy and build on your progress, doing more good work and gaining new skills and continuing to bring more ideas to life. In many ways its about finding the confidence to do something new, who knows just where it will lead…
